1948 UN General Assembly proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
1966 UN Greneral Assembly proclaimed International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
1976 Canada adopts the International Covenants as binding law on the federal Government and the Optional Protocol which give the UN Human Rights Committee juristiction to hear complaints from Canada.
1980 Grand Council participated in the Forth Russell Tribunal on the Rights of the Indians in the Americas.
1980 Grand Captain Alex Denny sends petition to the UN Human Rights Committee under Optional Protocol.
